I did a brief search and returned no valid hits before posting this so sorry for any double posting.

I am new to pd and have finished my first patch. But now I am trying to configure audio input and it is not working.

I am using either old Fujitsu lifebook c series or newer fujitsu amilo laptops. Both have the same problem. I plug in my audio cable to the mic in and the signal just passes through the laptop and out the speakers, seemingly NOT flowing through PD as I had thought it would. I played around with all the control panel menus and sliders on the mixer of the drivers and nothing helped. Of course, fujitsu was no help either saying I should try to configure the software and ask at the forums.

So I am missing something somewhere. I have a gig this weekend as time is now a problem.

what about the patch?
check the adc~ object and the pd audio settings, laptops soundcard configuration is quite simple...
try connecting the adc~ to the dac~, enable audio and mind the feedback ... just to check if it does work.

What OS are you using?

i am using windows xp on the amilo and 2000 on the lifebook.

the patch does not have any effect. the sound plays through the laptop still without much notice to pd .. the driver mixer DOES have an effect on the signal.. input and output sliders removing silencing the signal

(heh. you guys are a lot quicker than those techies from fujitsu)

i use a fujitsu amilo on winxp too, i have no issues with the sound, even when i use the onboard sound. did you configure the audio settings in pd? open pd, select "media" -> "audio settings..." - then choose "SoundMAX HD Audio I" as input and "SoundMAX HD Audio O" as output.
these are the pd entries for my onboard sound, maybe it's the same at you!?
then choose "media" -> "test audio and midi". set the "TEST SIGNAL" to -40 db and listen if you hear a sine tone.
this should work.

it might be obvious (*gg*) but don't forget to check the "compute audio" radio box....

i dont know those drivers at all .. i have something called realtek hd in both fujitsus..

i know the audio settings part in pd because i configured my rme soundcard no problem with my desktop (and that is a fairly complicated interface)..

i think ill call the fujitsu again tomorrow and really preasure them as i still havent received either email from them

i've got a dell with a realtek sound card and pd works fine.
here a picture with my audio settings...but it was that way by defaults.

well i called fujitsu again and they were again no real help. i am quite stumped on this so I went a bought an iMic yesterday, which solved the problem (apart from having to spend 59e on it)
