Hi, i'm new and also i have a new problem related my laptop and the software coming from GOTO10 (pure:dyne). I'd like to run pd from this live dvd i had downloaded, but i have a problem with my sound card. Pratically if i try to play an mp3 file with audacity, it works fine, but on pd my soundcard stucks and the results is no audio and DIO error. What can i do?..may i have to set rigth my internal soundcard or it's another problem?..maybe related with my laptop?
My computer is a -DELL INSPIRON 1300 (..yes, i little bit old) Intel(R) Pentium(R)M processor 1.73GHz,2GB di RAM with SigmaTel High DefinitionAudio CODEC...

I too run pd on a Dell laptop (one year old) with SigmaTel sound, and I'm afraid I have some bad news.
There is a fix. If you install ASIO4ALL (http://www.asio4all.com/) then in your Media menu you will be able to choose ASIO instead of "standard (MIMO)." When the dialog pops up, you have to choose "Microsoft Sound Mapper" for your ins and outs.
This isn't a great fix though. Dell has never made a laptop with even remotely OK on-board sound. Even if you have it running this way, you will most likely have squeaks and pops and a persistent hum out of your headphone jack. Some of the squeaks and pops can be eliminated by turning off your Wi-Fi.
The only real solution is to run sound from an external audio interface.

First of all thanks for the reply...but my real problem is related with this -liveDVD\pure:dyne-coming from GOTO10 site. Did you experienced this system on your laptop? You're right about ASIO4ALL, but this concern WINDOWS system. With pure:dyne running under the LINUX system, instead the driver is ALSA. So my problem is to run PD under LINUX on a DELL INSPIRON with the liveDVD pure:dyne.
If you ever try this, please post an opinion so i can take in consideration if the problem comes from a bug in the software or from a DELL's laptop hardware.

Ah. I'm sorry I overlooked that (major) detail.
Linux is definitely not my territory, but I can tell you that PD running to the SigmaTel drivers in Windows is definitely a problem. I'd say that it's more likely a hardware issue.
