Hi everyone, first post so be a little patient if i do not follow the correct standards etc...
I am presently working on a pd patch that will demonstrate an optical illusion using live camera input. There are a few problems however...
Firstly the way the patch is meant to work is a person walks in front of the camera and if they are moving a lot, or enough for the patch to deem that there is enough motion, their silhouette will appear in a static pattern background. Now onto the problems.... Becuase I need them to appear and disappear into this background i need their silhouette to be covered in the pattern as well as having the background covered in the pattern. This is an easy task however it does not look right.
It does not give the effect of motion at all and in fact the only reason that one can actually notice that there is a silhouette moving is because there is a very annoying white flickering outline of the body. Has anybody got any ideas?
the way I am designing the patch is by using pix_background to decipher whether or not there is a difference between the incoming signal and its supposed background. then using this I am getting a black and white picture showing the moving item in black and then using pix compare to compare the black of the signal and the white of the signal to the pattern separately and then combining the signals. This almost works in principle except for the horrible flickering outline.
