Well, i have been working on a project where I am taking audio and midi data from a DAW to influence some particle systems I have set up. The professor I am working with wanted to see if I could get the particles systems to map onto a geo like mapping an image or video. Is this possible? What is the output of part_draw carry?

Also how can I record the audio and video coming out of pd so I can make some videos of my performances.

I've never used particle systems in Gem, but for the other questions:

to record audio use [writesf~]
to record images use [pix_write]

then the tricky part is to combine all the images together with the audio into a video file.

actually the more tricky part is that pix_write takes a lot of time, so you probably want to record all your "actions" during a performance and play them back into your patch when its time to render the video later, unless you like jerky unresponsiveness when you're trying to control things!

I've been meaning to extend the gem-dvd tutorial I've been working on to include pd-generated sound - it's just finding the time to do it (busy times ahead..). It might be useful in any case:

is something you want to do live or can you render videos and then use [pix_texture] in second pass style things?

Take a snapshot of the system using [pix_snap2tex], plug that into a geo, and mess with the alpha.
