...for gem, mine aren't included for some reason, but I have them as part of a separate gem installation package. I'm on osx and can't find where these help files would go at all as the default pd ones don't show up when I do a search.

They go to the same folder where your extensions are stored.

Applications/PureData(right click and select "Show Package Contents")/contents/Resources/extra
