Hello. I'm very very new at Pd, trying to create NRPN converters to use Alesis ION as MIDI controller in Logic. I'm also interested in general MIDI control of Logic using Pd. I can send MIDI info to my audio interface (M-Audio Firewire 410), but I'm not sure how to get Logic to pick up on MIDI sent from Pd without cabling together the MIDI-In and MIDI-Out on the 410.

Any ideas?

If your using Logic youre on Osx right? Then you can set up an IAC bus in Utilities/Audio/midi setup. This basically creates a virtual midi cable between whatever app is using it. So set up Pd's midi to use this bus as its output. In Logic set the midi tracks input to the iac bus also. The main objects for midi output are [ctrlout] and [noteout] although there are others. HAve a look at their help files to get you started. Its pretty straightforward when you know how.

On this subject, I am trying to route all MIDI from my keyboard through pd and then into Logic and cut the direct connection between the keyboard and Logic. Whilst I've succeeded in transmitting MIDI from pd to Logic, I cannot seem to sever the direct link, which means I get constant note doubling.

I tried deleting the connection between physical input and sequencer input, and replacing it with an IAC instrument, which I then cabled into the sequencer input, but then there was no MIDI data being received. It seems that the input from IAC and the keyboard are both picked up by the physical input, but I can't seem to delete the latter.

Any suggestions?
