hello all,
I am experimenting with simple automation on grid; the attached patch moves the point back to zero/middle of grid at a fixed speed and I would like to be able to adjust this speed on the fly....but my attempts have thus far failed, does anyone have any suggestions? I think I am overlooking something very simple.

I can see why that was no fun!

Scales were inverted. Scales weren't centered on zero. Axes were reversed. You're lucky to still have your sanity!

I had to completely redo it. Is this what you meant?

thank you, yes, sanity is always intact...
this is close, however I should have stated that I need the point to move to center of y-axis, and stay where it is on the x-axis....but I will alter this and get it to work,

Just delete one of the [line] objects I guess Don. Using [line] is a mixed blessing. I found that if you wanted to adjust on the fly then, because line always moves in a constant time rather than at a rate, if the the last movement was slow you won't get manual control of the dot again until [line] finished. Couldn't figure out a way round that. Maybe you can solve it with a metro + arithmetic like your original solution - only I was tired and couldn't quite see where you were going with that. You could use the line equation y = mx + c and pythagorus to calculate the number of diagonal steps. Or maybe it's simplest to use some hack like [spigot] to shut down the line data when you want.

your help is greatly appreciated and your code is much cleaner, it actually gave me other ideas...but for this instance I ended up using pack to control the speed of change....and patching that into my nasty looking patch since it was already part of a sampler I am using now! Perhaps not the most beautiful thing, but functional...
