I'm just starting to get into GEM, and it's frickin' awesome! But I haven't figured out audio from videos... pix_film, pix_movie etc, don't seem to load sound along with.

do you guys get your audio ripped for loading using sfplay? or is there some gem way of bringing it in? I'm using fedora8, so linux solutions are preferable.

Why are you thinking in using GEM? Maybe pdp objects can help you also. For example, you can hear the sound of your mov's with [pdp_qt~] .

or maybe its readsf~, or sfread~... I'm posting from work, so I don't have access to a pd package.

I'm using GEM just for marketed reasons. I about it on puredata.org and on this forum, and thought "what an interesting way to expand the audio stuff into the visual spectrum". So I've spent a week of evenings or so reading up and experimenting with it. It's very robust- just couldn't find audio handling.

so can I load both libraries and use pdp and GEM together? that'd be teh hotness.

Yes, you can load GEM and pdp together.

To add filters to your movies I think is better pdp and pidip.

Then if you want to add 3D things use GEM.

There is also 2 objects that connect pdp and GEM: [gem2pdp] [pdp2gem]

The codec of the .mov videos should be "photo jpeg"

Can someone please post up an example of their patch?

I am trying to create a similar thing. so far I have created a gemwin which picks .mov files from a folder and plays them on shuffle. I am looking to have the audio attached to the .mov files to play as well but am a little confused how to use [pdp_qt~] and [gem2pdp]
