I have seemed to run into a small control problem with pd's sending and receiving objects....

I have included the patch with an explanation of what i cant seem to accomplish, basically i have made a patch that uses the left, right up and down to navigate through 3 librarys of samples. the idea been that you pick a beat by hitting left and right then hit up to start using left and right to browse through some synths....

problem is that i cant get left and right to stop navigating through the beats....

sorry i find it hard to explain these things, have a look at the patch attached it might become clearer

Can you elaborate please Dave? Not quite getting your prob.

sorry i will try and make the problem seem clearer...

If you download and open the patch above, you will see 4 buttons at the top upWii downWii leftWii and rightWii. when you hit up and down it navigates through a vertical radio that is hooked up to nothing yet but has 3 radio buttons.

The idea is that when the vertical radio button is in position one, that the left and right buttons will only navigate through the first horizontal radio button on the bottom labelled "library of beats".

When the vertical radio button is in position two, i want the left and right button to only move through the library of synths.

When the vertical radio button is in position three, i want the left and right button to only move through the library of Vocals.

The problem i am having is that left and right moves through all of these library's at the one time. In other word i want the left and right button to only work on one library at a time.

I hope i made the problem more understandable......
Please let me know if i can elaborate further..

Just thought of a good way of describing the problem...

User Scenario
The User "Jim" presses the left and right button and is navigating through various drum beat loops. when he has found the drum beat he likes the most he decides to press up then he can hear synth loops playing on top of his looping drum beat. Jim then selects a synth melody he likes. Jim then presses up to browse through vocals using left and right......

So its kinda like loop player where you use up down left and right to browse through 3 arrays of loops...

Gotchya, okay here's a solution using pack and route, just as you already did. But you needed to separate the receive function from the state so its possible to route one button to multiple states.

I guess in programming talk we'd call this modularity, you were stuck because you had one thing doing two jobs that needed to be separate.
