I'm working on a sampler patch to use with a midi keyboard to reproduce the behaviour of a Korg Microsampler. I want to eventually transfer the patch to a Raspberry Pi and code a Python GUI that would interact with pd. Is it something possible? I've seen pdlib, but there is not much detail about compatibility.

Or else, is there a way to display an actual gui for the user to interact with in an embedded project?

You should be able to embed libpd in about any gui toolikit, but most people use openframeworks as it is scarily easy to pick up.

There is an addon called ofxGUI that should have everything basic.
There is also ofxGuiExtended.

Its been awhile since i've used ofx, but the community there is pretty damn active.

You could also consider libCinder, another popular graphics library similar to ofx.

Oh, sorry, I guess I just kind of blocked out that you asked about python GUI's.

The tk toolkit pd is actually written in can be used on raspberry pi.
If you wanted it to be different from pure data's interface you could simply overwrite the tcl files pd loads when it starts up.

I think python uses the tcl interpreter for tkinter so there should be a fairly easy way to do that. Not sure though.
