Hello and good wishes all.

How come the front ends of several of the patches that I've downloaded from amongst you appear all mashed up, with bangs and sliders and switches and so on all piled up all over each other, as with the attached image of "bonkers.pd", from Obiwannabe?

(I'm on Win-XP-Pro)

I'd earlier tried various ways to correct this in several cases, without any real success, and then I just moved on to diving behind the front ends and the whole map-to-parent thing.

BUT, I'm obviously missing something probably quite basic here.

Yup ~ I'm still a newbie with this, and will probably always remain so.

I'm on WinXP too, the 0.38.4 release and suffer the same problem. I guess it appears with patches that use the Graph On Parent (gop) option. On another machine i already tried out gop with release 0.39.2 and then the patches are ok (at least the gop stuff i tried out myself). So, unless you're already higher than 0.38.4, trying switching to the 0.39.2 extended.

I am immediately downloading release 0.40-2 to hopefully resolve this.

Meanwhile, if I may be allowed 2 more possibly stupid queries:

1. what does one do to have Pd not recognize and react to the "off" of a [notein] signal? Basically, I'd begun to set up a simple set of notes to Bang via a Faderfox microcontroller,... but every note plays once when I depress a switch,... and then again when I release the switch!

2. how does one change the default piano-voice of a [noteout],.. assuming that one can probably choose anything from the General Midi range of instrument-voices?

[stripnote] is your first answer.

Does your second question have to do with channel number? This is set by the right inlet of [noteout]

However, channel number does not affect instrument-voices, leaving me stuck with the default piano.

As for example, in the barebones instance below:

[O] (bang)
/ \
[50[ [127[
| /
[noteout]

(note: this will not make a sound the first time you bang it, since that also gets volume going)

Just to report that the upgrade to version 0.40.2 has resolved the issue of the mashed up front-ends,.. as Domien had suggested it might.

Would still be grateful to figure out the instrument-voice issue articulated in my post directly above this one.

That's almost exactly what I need.

Now to figure out how to get several different instrument voices going in the same patch,.. given that both [noteout] and [pgmout] are end objects. My Midi help files in this regard seem to be missing or something.
