I have made an attempt at a polyphonic guitar synth, inspired by the poly_tutorial.mmb.pd from maelstorm and utilising fiddle~ for the guitar input. its not MIDI out compatible yet, but MIDI keybord in is supported for note-on only (timed note-off).

Muted guitar input seems to achieve the best results.

The synth is a simple phasor and is in an abstraction for easy modification
There are 12 voices modified only by attack & decay + high & low pass filters at the output.
Voice stealing can switched on or off
There is also a mono synth for single string input & note bending, but its poly or mono, not both.

Requires Pd-extended

Some feedback would be great.

cheers

One file, the gui one, appears to be empty. Only gs-voice.pd loads properly.

Could you double-check the .zip is OK?

I'm usually running Pd-extended from Ubuntu studio 12.04, I rebooted to windows vista, downloaded the the zip, its all there and it ran as expected.
Occasionally i've found I need open the patch and set the [npoints 2048( message to fiddle~ again and restart the dsp to get things happening, I'm looking into this.
I have a later version that has dynamic note lengths that depend on the amplitute of the pluck/strum and will upload it when I've sorted the above and tweeked fiddle~ to filter the lower notes better

cheers

On a hunch, I tried a different audio device, whose drivers appear to be more robust.

Odd, my cheap onboard Realtek sound device performs better than my prosumer Edirol (Roland) device... Pd is a lot more stable after making the switch to the mobo sound - very counterintuitive. It was kind of touchy before. Realtek is everywhere, though, and maybe the drivers are more battle-hardened.

I'll provide some feedback later!

I would occasionally get a good performance, but then it would go chaotic on me, like there was a feedback loop or something going on.

I believe this was largely the setup required. I didn't understand it, couldn't dial it in. My bad.

I'm learning a lot reading the code, thank you.

I am also working on guitar processors, synthesis. I look forward to your next posts!
