Hi Everyone,
I've been having problems for a while with almost all of the external libraries not loading in Pd-extended. I have tried a couple of times to fix it but have not had success. I've read a couple of the other threads on this topic and i think maybe it is a problem with the org.puredata.pd.default.plist but i dont really know what is wrong.

i have the path and startup settings set to the pd/contents/resources/exta folder. i tried copying all the libraries to someplace else and tried putting that in the path too, but it didnt work.

this has been driving me crazy for a while and i really need to fix it now!!! someone help pllleeeeaaaasseeee!!!!!!!

i make a lot of experimental/drone music with PD and i will send you a CD if you can help me! thanks.

Did you try uninstalling Pd-extended, deleting the .plist file, and then reinstalling?

i have tried deleting pd from my computer and reinstalling it, but dont i delete the plist file when i delete pd? the plist file that i copied here is located in Pd-extended/Contents/Resources. i tried deleting that and info.plist once but it didnt seem to do anything.

Check ~/Library/Preferences and delete org.puredata.pd.plist. That is the file it is using and it does not get deleted when you delete Pd. Pd uses the one in Contents/Resources when that file doesn't exist.

I don't think I ever deleted the .plist file in ~/Library/Preferences but it is not there and it doesn't show up on a search of my hard drive. But if I was only looking for it to delete it, and it turns out it's not there anyway, I guess that doesn't change much. Could it be something that is wrong in .plist file in the /Contents/Resources? Thanks a ton for your help!

It doesn't show up when I do a spotlight search, either, but it is there. If I understand it correctly (and I don't know if I do) the one in ~/Library/Preferences is created when you change the default settings; otherwise it uses the one in /Contents (it's actually not in the Resources folder on my installation). Just to be clear, you checked /Library/Preferences and not Macintosh HD:Library/Preferences, right?

Aha! I was looking for it in Macintosh HD:Library/Prefernces! I found the .plist file and deleted it and everything seems to be working now. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

hmm, i reccently reinstall my pd-extended 0.41-4. however during startup, I founded that only PiDiP, GEM and PDP are loaded. Other libraries got message like:

libdir_loaded: added 'freeverb' to the global objectclass path

and it happen for all the library. Any suggestion for this? I've tried to copy the .plist file that in my opinion would load all the library on the/Content/Resource. but so far, no use. Any help probably?

my home folder, accessed via go>home, doesn't appear to have any folder called "Library"

and when I enter rm ~/Library/Preferences/org.puredata.pdextended.plist into Terminal, I receive "No such file or directory"

Well, then, it's not there, and it shouldn't be causing any problems.

When you start Pd-extended 0.43, in the bottom-right of the Pd window there is a Log dropdown list. Click it and change it to 3 - debug. You should see something like this show up in the window:

All that "libdir_loader" stuff are the libraries that are loaded by default. If you don't see them, then there's a preferences issue. Any other libraries need to be loaded in the patch using [import] or [declare]. Pd-extended no longer supports adding libraries to be loaded on start-up.

All of those libraries loaded, according to the PD window, but things like sliders and bangs don't work

That's definitely weird. Just to be certain, the vanilla library is one of the libs listed as being loaded? Because I believe that's the one that should be loading those objects. If so, I'm not really sure what the problem could be.

Should those messages appear every time? I'm having trouble with libraries not loading and getting the infamous "...couldn't create" error.

EDIT: Ah, with the [lib/obj] convention, I was able to get the correct object to load correctly.
