I am trying to use PD on a Raspberry Pi but I am getting some weird issues. It is telling me that it tried but can't sync A/D/A. I have tried 48k and 44,1k in a lot of different buffer sizes/delay but can not get it to work.
I am also getting this message.

Setup is Raspberry Pi 3, Pd 0.46.2, Behringer 202 usb sound card.

Would be SO happy if anyone could help me out!

@kristofferlislegaard You could try increasing the Buffer size. It is "Delay (msec)" in Pd "Media" "Audio Settings" in the top menu bar.
If no joy then post your settings and someone will be able to help.

I have tried a bunch of different delay settings but can not get any to work.

Just using the -rt switch when starting Pd could help.

What does
$ aplay -L --dump-hw-params
tell you about the soundcard?
Check the Man page for aplay first though, as I am a Linux noob.
Somewhere the Pd settings do not match the driver settings, or the driver itself has problems, or other devices are delaying the audio processing by interrupts.

Are you running a 64-bit os and have the correct driver?
It could be a USB hub speed problem...... https://puredata.info/docs/raspberry-pi

You should have Alsa installed..... and select the alsa drivers for Pd I believe.
You could try using Jack (see below).

This is necessary reading...... https://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/raspberrypi .... that should help you solve the problem.

I am not running the card with a hub. I see that people have been turning their pi's usb speed back to usb 1 but that it then wont work with a usb keyboard.

Maybe I just need to bite the bullet and get one of those Pisound interfaces?

probably makes no difference but does setting usb audio input as plugin and output as hardware do anything?

could be an issue with that version of pd

i have the latest version working on the pi3. (although do sometimes get errors when creating objects while audio is running)

try downloading the latest stable version

Yes. I'll try to install 0.47 of PD to check. But I don't reeeeaaaallly understand the installation process.

When I typed sudo apt-get install build-essentials automake autoconf libtool gettext I just got an error.

I am doing a fresh install of Rasbpian now btw. It could be that I have broken something earlier.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Ok update:

I did a full fresh install from the Noobs card, I then did the dish-upgrade, then i installed version 48(which after a while i discovered there is a typo in the guide, it is supposed to be build-essential not build-essentials) installed everything in the guide, opened pd, change to the external sound card, same problem

If I use my Mixpre-D instead of the Behringer card it seeeeems to be working, but I still get this message:

This message should't be a problem, it's quite often there. As long as you hear your sound card OK, then it's OK. If using ALSA doen't seem to work, give Jack a try.
It's weird, but using Jack with the ALSA driver most of the time works smoothly, while Pd with ALSA alone could have issues. At least to my experience.

Thanks for the tip. Ill think about Jack. But yeah with the Behringer card there are audio glitches.
