/dev/ttyS0 has permission 777. Any ideas? Thanks.

If I try using comport on the box I'm on now I get a similar error related to permissions instead of termios-structure.

Perhaps it's time someone else chimed in....

I think your user should be in the dialout group. What device are you trying to communicate with?

on this KXStudio/Ubuntu install didn't change the error for me; same permissions denial.

The old Debian Squeeze-based AVlinux 6.04 on my legacy box never had this problem, it just worked with no permissions mods at at all. Never tried it with Ubuntu on that thing.
