I think you need to specify a path to a soundfile for each playback... but I'm not sure!

For what you say, I think you'll be better of using [soundfiler] + [tabplay~]...
[tabplay~] actually receives the bang message you're looking for.

The message you mention should probably work, though in extended help patch of [readsf~] it used to say that you should give some time, like two seconds, before you start playing a file after you've loaded it. Still, I've used to send a 1 to [readsf~] right after I loaded a file and it worked fine. Especially if you have an SSD hard drive, there should be no problem.
What Sergio says about the path would be true in case [readsf~] can't find the file you're trying to open. In this case you'd get an error message in Pd's console, hence my first question.
@sergio loading an audio file in an array is not always possible as the file might be too big to fit in an array, in which case you read the file straight from the hard drive with [readsf~].

You will be able to get rid of some bits if you wish......
cart_wav.pd
You must not have any "spaces" in your folder names or file names. That is a good general rule for Pd, and could be what is causing your problem. There are convoluted ways around that..... come back if you need to.....
