Release notes
0.57-0
The "zoom" feature is entirely reworked, thanks to Antoine Rousseau.
[receive] can (at last!) be set to receive from a variable symbol - thanks to Christof and Alexandre
Many new features added to [pointer], [struct], [drawnumber], etc., objects.
After many requests: logical binops such as [==~] and [||~] now included.
IEMGUI number boxes can highlight their image when activated
[clone] object can dynamically allocate copies at run time.
New [siginfo~] object to get sample rate, number of channels, etc.
New [list foreach], [list join] and [list unjoin] objects.
Button to rescan MIDI device list - thanks Ben.
New [snake~ sum], [snake~ pick] and [snake~ split] objects.
Cut/Copy/Paste for patch fragments now work across apps.
Configurable keyboard shortcuts - thanks Iohannes.
[oscparse] object allows non-standard but widely used "double" type.
The [float] object now can parse integers out of symbols such as "preset45.txt".
MacOs "App ID" and "preferences" storage now under info.puredata to agree with website URL.
Incremental improvements to experimental GTK3 front end.
Classes now have a user slot, "c_data" for storing per-class data.
Updates to "find externals" feature - thanks Iohannes.
Much work by Iohannes on the translation infrastructure, and as always, documentation by Alexandre.
And... at long last, '{' and '}' characters are no longer dropped.

I've been writing small externals in C using pd-lib-builder (as in this tutorial) for a while, all the time not really understanding what on earth is being done with all this object-oriented business I'm writing. All the stuff that comes to and from the pure data environment is in some sort of wrapper data-type shenanigan, i.e. a float that is passed into an inlet of a pd object might be a (t_atom) with symbol "float" or it might be a (t_float) sometimes ?? And in order to interact with any of this I use a getter method, or just treat it as what it should be and cross my fingers (maybe with some forced typing now and then too). I don't like not understanding my data types, and I don't really know what documentation I can look at beyond that git repo I linked above.

anyway I'm just trying to write an object with a construction argument of one (1) float that won't crash Pd when given garbage/nothing on construction.
I'm looking for some kind of check for <t_floatarg f> that it is a ) populated and b ) actually a float.

//constructor called when a new instance is made
void *rms_tilde_new(t_floatarg f) {
    t_rms_tilde *x = (t_rms_tilde *) pd_new(rms_tilde_class);

    //creating a signal outlet
    x->signalout = outlet_new(&x->x_obj, &s_signal);

    //passing creation arguments to internal variables
    x->windowsize = 64;
    if(f >= 1) {
        x->windowsize = f;
    }

    return (void *)x;
}

To clarify: I maintain the Mimba synth on github https://github.com/Haroes/mimba It has a stable and 'most recent' version. Additionally, for compositions and performances (like Toetsingen) I have made specific versions of Mimba. So, if you are looking for a documented and more or less 'tidy' version of Mimba, I guess the github stable version is the best choice.
